Travel & Learning Award Summer 2026 Application (Open)

Eligibility

  • This award is open to all graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Applications must be submitted within the cycle during which the conference or course was attended.
  • If your travel is between application cycles? (e.g. April 30 – May 1), you must apply to the earlier cycle.
  • The conference attended must be a reputable national or international conference.
  • Professional certificate programs from the W Booth School of Engineering Practice and Technology, McMaster Center for Continuing Education as well as courses from online learning platforms are eligible for the professional development portion of the award.
  • Courses that are used to satisfy your degree requirements at McMaster are NOT eligible (examples include the co-op course, MERGE, etc.) for the professional development portion awards.
  • Applicants can win a maximum of two (2) awards in an academic year (May 2025 to April 2026).

Requirements

  • The application form asks following three categories of questions:
    • Category 1: Applicant Information
    • Category 2: Information about the conference or the courses attended
    • Category 3: Supporting Documents Submission and Affirmation
  • Before filling out the application form, please have the following documents prepared (PDF files should be no larger than 10 MB):
    • Statement describing the reason you attended the conference, the importance of it and/or the organization hosting it (maximum 250 words).
    • Statement describing the relevance of this conference to your research or professional development (maximum 250 words).
    • Signed version of the supervisor declaration document.
    • Proof of McMaster Engineering enrolment and status (this confirmation is available for download on MOSAIC).
    • Proof of your activity registration (if applicable).
    • Your abstract submission, poster or statement of acceptance. (if you are presenting in the conference).
    • Proof of all expenses listed as ONE pdf (if already attended).

Recognition

  • Certificate of Achievement
  • Feature on the EGS website, newsletter, and social media
  • Monetary Award in the form of partial reimbursement of your expenses (the value is subject to change each award cycle)

  • The deadline for the Travel & Learning Award (Summer 2026) is September 4, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

Note: Successful candidates will be contacted via email. Only one submission is allowed per term. Please ensure your details are accurate before submitting, as no changes or modifications will be considered after submission.
