Best Project Award

The EGS Best Project Award is open to MEng graduate students at McMaster University for projects completed between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, with a minimum grade of A. Selection is based on originality, impact, clarity, and contribution to the field. Applicants submit an application form that includes project details, supporting documents, and a supervisor’s endorsement. Winners receive a certificate, monetary prize, and feature on EGS platforms.

Eligibility

  • This award is open to graduate students in the MEng. Project-based program at the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Eligible projects must have been completed between September 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026.
  • Projects must be innovative, receive a minimum grade of A, and be completed at McMaster University.
  • Only projects with an associated publication are eligible for either the EGS Best Project Award or the EGS Best Paper Award.
  • If a winning project has multiple contributors, the award will be granted to the project, and the monetary prize will be equally divided among all contributors.
  • Each applicant may receive no more than one Best Project Award per academic year (September 1 to August 31).

Selection criteria

  • The selection criteria are based on the originality, impact, clarity, and overall contribution of the project.

Requirements

  • The application form is divided into three Sections:
    • Section 1: Applicant Information
    • Section 2: Details of Completed Project Information
    • Section 3: Supporting Documents Submission and Affirmation
  • Before filling out the application form, please have the following documents prepared (PDF files should be no larger than 10 MB):
    • Statement highlighting why your project deserves the Best Project Award, emphasizing its research contribution, impact, and innovation (250 words).
    • McMaster’s unofficial transcripts showing your registration in the project and the grades achieved in it.
    • Upload a copy of your published or accepted paper.
    • Upload a letter of endorsement from your project supervisor (Faculty-lead).

  • Feature on the EGS website, newsletter, and social media
  • Monetary Award

Deadline for submission

  • The deadline for the Best Project Award (2025-2026) is September 15, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

Note: Only one submission is allowed per academic year. Please ensure all details are accurate before submitting, as no changes or modifications will be accepted afterward. The Best Project Award will be granted annually to the top three projects.
