Best Paper Award Summer 2026 Application (Open)

Eligibility

  • This award is open to all graduate students enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering.
  • The journal paper must be published in a Q1 journal, and the conference paper must have been accepted at a reputable national or international conference.
  • The paper must be an original research article or manuscript, and list McMaster University as the first affiliation.
  • Published or accepted between May 1, 2026 and August 31, 2026.
  • Each applicant may receive no more than one Best Paper Award in an academic year (September 1 to August 31).

Selection criteria

  • The selection criteria are based on the originality, impact, clarity, and overall contribution of the paper.

Requirements

  • The application form is divided into three Sections:
    • Section 1: Applicant Information
    • Section 2: Information of Published/Accepted Paper
    • Section 3: Supporting Documents Submission and Affirmation
  • Before filling out the application form, please have the following documents prepared (PDF files should be no larger than 10 MB):
    • Statement highlighting why your paper deserves the Best Paper Award, emphasizing its research contribution, impact, and innovation (250 words).
    • Upload a copy of your published or accepted paper.
    • Upload proof of acceptance email (optional if already published).

  • Certificate of Achievement
  • Feature on the EGS website, newsletter, and social media
  • Monetary Award

  • The deadline for the Best Paper Award (Summer 2026) is September 5, 2026 at 11:59 PM EST.

Note: Only one submission is allowed per term. One Best Paper Award per department will be given each term. Please ensure your details are accurate before submitting, as no changes or modifications will be considered after submission.
