Aqsa Noor
Civil Engineering
Graduate Officer
MASc Student
Aqsa is pursuing a MASc in Civil Engineering, with research focused on the post-earthquake fire performance of tall mass timber structures. She studies how timber buildings behave under extreme conditions, essentially combining her passion for problem-solving with a bit of controlled chaos by virtually setting buildings on fire (safely, of course).
What do you like to do for fun?
I like staying outdoors in the summer while it lasts, and hanging out with friends (especially around food). Being away from home got me into cooking, which I never thought would happen. Now I’m out here making pasta from scratch, which usually turns into a fun and slightly messy quest.
What drew you to EGS?
I was super involved outside the classroom during my undergrad; I was that person who was always doing something. When I started grad school, I realized I missed that energy and sense of community. Joining EGS felt like the perfect way to dive back in, meet awesome people, and help make grad life more fun (and a bit more organized).
Esi Otoo
Mechanical Engineering
Events Officer
MASc Student
Esi is pursuing a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on energy management and hybrid energy storage systems for electric vehicles.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy cooking, reading, and watching movies.
What drew you to EGS?
I joined EGS to connect with fellow graduate students and support initiatives that enhance the engineering graduate experience.
