New Graduate Student Orientation

Immigration and Work Permit Presentation 
May 31, 2017 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM

Scott Smith will deliver a presentation regarding immigration and work permit related issues that affect international students in Canada. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for students to ask specific questions.

Scott Smith – Immigration Consultant, Academic Immigration Group
Scott’s work in immigration intersects closely with his research interests in global higher education. At ISRC he provides licensed immigration services (study permits, visas, work permits) for 200-250 international students and their dependents, both in Canada and overseas. As an ICEF-trained education counsellor for both Canadian and US markets, he also helps his organization with student recruitment and retention strategies.

HSR Buss Pass Referendum: Results

The results are unofficial at this time as any GSA member may challenge the validity of a referendum in a written submission to the Chief Returning Officer ( within two (2) business days after the close of voting. Such submission shall contain the appellant’s name, student number, telephone number and address, as well as a detailed account of the alleged reasons for invalidating the referendum.

Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) Referendum Question – PASSES
Quorum for any referendum question shall be five percent (5%) of all eligible voters.
Option Votes
Yes 1122 (81.7%)
No 252 (18.3%)
Total 1411
Abstain 37 (2.6%)

Turnout: 1411 (36.6%) of 3854 electors voted in this ballot.
